In 1924, Mr. Shimpei Goto selected the name Citizen and began to manufacture watches under the hope that fine watches could be worn by anyone around the world and not only by the wealthy elite. In 1930, the watch name was adopted as the company name and the brand business was launched in full scale. Since then, Citizen has produced approximately 290 million watches and movements and brought about huge success to date.
